OCTOBER 10 - 2007

David, Here is my 1968 Trade Winds Cheetah.
These were a limited build sled of only 100. It has a JLO 594cc opposed twin, with twin
pipes and cranked out a whole 34 HP stock. I recently aquired another one of these that
is set up as a race chassis from days gone by. As of a couple of weeks ago there were
only two known to still be in existance. This one that I own and another one in
Wisconsin. There are now 3 known to be in existance with the race chassis I recently
bought. These were the first sled to break the 100 MPH barrier. That record was set
March 14th, 1968 on White Lake in Manawa, Wisconsin.
Top speed recorded was 101 MPH. Some of these even had a third carb that was
set up to drop fuel directly into the crankcase. The race chassis I have will be
set up that way and will replicate the original speed sled. Jeff Haugen

THANKS JEFF FOR THE GREAT PICTURE!
