1979 SKI DOO EVEREST 340E

Myself and a group of children admiring my Everest 340 E in Ukkusissat, West-Greenland, January 1980.

John A. Rosenhøj

Dear David,

Thank you for a splendid an interesting classic snowmobile web site.

I am living in Belgium, where I have my 28 year old Everest 340 E, still in a running state.

I purchased it in Montreal, Canada, when I was a mining engineer at the Black Angel Mine, in Marmorilik,  Greenland in 1979.

In fact, by going again through my archives, I found the initial spare part manual, part no. 480 1102 00.

It indicates Everest and Everest L/C "Ski-doo '79'; my invoice when purchasing the machine as new in October 1979 also indicates 1979,
while the date plate on the machine itself indicates 1978, but I suppose this could be normal.

The snowmobile, by the way, was purchased from Pigeon Marine & Sport Inc.,
6767 Est Henri-Bourassa, Montreal-Nord in Quebec, Canada (which now appears to house Toyota).

I started the machine up Sunday 18/6-2006 after 10 years of slumber, it worked marvelously once I had drained some water from the petrol filter.

I also took some photos which I shall send you later to-day, with a list of the parts which I am looking for.

First, however, I send you a number of photos from its first winter in West-Greenland, and the time it spent
in Denmark during the 1980'S when I changed employer from Greenland to Algeria & China
(where I did not have an opportunity to ride my Everest).

Some of the photos from Denmark are polaroids of low colour quality, but I send them for documentation.

You are free to use these  on your site, if you should wish so.

I probably have a few photos somewhere from 1995 when driving it in Belgium in Val-d'Arimont.

yours faithfully.  John
