JUNE 19 - 2006
I am with my 1979 Ski Doo Everest 340E at the Maarmorilik Fjord
John A. Rosenhøj
Thank you for a splendid an interesting classic snowmobile web site.
I am living in Belgium, where I have my 28 year old Everest 340 E, still in a running state.
purchased it in Montreal, Canada, when I was a mining engineer at the Black
Angel Mine, in Marmorilik,
In fact, by going again through my archives, I found the initial spare part manual, part no. 480 1102 00.
indicates Everest and Everest L/C "Ski-doo '79'; my invoice when purchasing
the machine as new in October 1979 also indicates 1979, while the
date plate on the machine itself indicates 1978, but I suppose
The snowmobile, by the way, was purchased from Pigeon Marine & Sport Inc., 6767 Est Henri-Bourassa, Montreal-Nord in Quebec, Canada (which now appears to house Toyota).
I started the machine up Sunday 18/6-2006 after 10 years of slumber, it worked marvelously once I had drained some water from the petrol filter.
I also took some photos which I shall send you later to-day, with a list of the parts which I am looking for.
however, I send you a number of photos from its first winter in West-Greenland,
and the time it spent
Some of the photos from Denmark are polaroids of low colour quality, but I send them for documentation.
You are free to use these on your site, if you should wish so.
I probably have a few photos somewhere from 1995 when driving it in Belgium in Val-d'Arimont.
THANKS JOHN FOR THE GREAT PICTURE!
