RESTORING THE SPORT ONE PIECE AT A TIME.

BACK IN LATE AUGUST 2008, ERIC SENT ME A PICTURE OF HIS NEW FIND.
HERE IS MOST OF THE RESTORATION PROJECT.  DAVID S.

SEE ERIC'S TEXT BELOW TO SEE HOW THINGS UNFOLDED.

Pictures prior to "tear down".
The 1975 Super Stinger 340 spent the last 10 years in
a garage and now was up for adoption.

At first glance I was not sure she was worth saving.
But I was committed after my son decided this would be his new show sled.

Not wanting to disappoint my son, I decided to take a second glance.
Suspension was shot, track was torn, and many parts were missing or beyond repair.
I started my search for new and used parts.
My new found friend Dennis Kutz from Scorpsrus was there to save the day.

It was decided that the adopted sled would now be a donor sled.
The next few sets of pictures show just what we had to work with.

The more we dug into the project the more depressed we became.

The old adage came to mind "It is hard to shine a terd".

The old adage came to mind "It is hard to shine a terd".

Rotten to the core.  "well doctor the cancer has
spread too far, it appears that it is terminal".
I could hire a magician to help me fix these areas but there were just too many of them.

No bringing this old girl back to life.
We harvested her organs and gave her the typical burial,
we placed her behind the garage.

So with a garage full of used parts and a blank check,
Blake and I headed out to find a rolling chassis.

At the Princeton Grass Drags and Swap meet, we found just what we needed.
 Back in business!

So while the tunnel was at the blast shop,
the Scorpion Para Rail suspension was rebuilt.

Quick turn around at the blast shop, placed the rebuild into full motion.
Pounded out a few dents, welded a few holes/cracks and reinforced some weak areas.
Ready for paint.
Couple coats of BASF automotive paint before the rust process returned.

Few more parts and you can almost imagine......

Seat sent to Gary Lamont in Michigan for re-covering and
grab bar to Superior Chrome Inc for re-chroming.
The next order of business was the driven clutch and chaincase.

Gas tank added and a few more pictures of the driven clutch assembly.

Time to set the driven shaft.

Remaining parts are added as the gel coat in the fiberglass hood is repaired.

More pictures of the "mid" assembly.
Gary Lamont states the seat is on the way back.

Rear suspension is not fully assembled as the
rear chrome grab bar needs to be installed first.

Final shots of "mid" assembly.  Chrome is now on its way back.

Seat is back in the shop. We are headed into the "home stretch".

Chrome back in the shop. We are headed into the "home stretch".

Still need a few more parts.
Dennis from Scorpsrus say he has them but if anyone out there has
NOS parts for the 1975 Scorpion Super Stinger, let me know.

Motor to be rebuilt by BAC Machining but I am still looking
for a electric starter for the Cuyuna motor.

As the final assembly is completed more pictures to come.
Thanks to all who have assisted in bringing this old girl back to life.
My son Blake is very excited to bring this to a show, possibly near you.

David, The 1975 Scorpion Super Stinger is almost done.
A few more parts, decals, and a rebuilt motor.
